The surfboard leash is one of surfing’s the greatest inventions, and it only appeared in the lineups in the early 1970s. The so-called leg rope saves a lot of effort whenever you fall off the board, or you have to let go of it for any reason. If you’re wearing a leash, you will never have to swim all the way back to the beach to retrieve your surfboard because it is always attached to your ankle.
